Please send questions and bug reports to the address above. We normally reply within two or three business days, in English or Japanese. For a bug report, it helps a great deal if you include your device, your OS version and the app version (shown at the bottom of the Settings screen).
Up to 20 participants, every feature is free — layouts, tags, pairs to keep apart, automatic seating, PDF export and name cards, with nothing held back. For a roster of 21 or more, there is a single in-app purchase; the price is shown in the app and on your store page. There is no subscription and no advertising.
Tap “Restore purchase” on the purchase screen in the app. You need to be signed in with the same Apple ID (App Store) or Google account (Google Play) that made the purchase. If it still will not restore, please contact us with your receipt.
It is stored only in a database on your device, and nothing is ever sent anywhere. SeatCraft has no server, and every feature works offline. Nobody else — the developer included — can see your rosters. See the privacy policy for the details.
Export a JSON file from Backup on the Settings screen, and import it from the same screen on the new device. Where you keep the exported file (cloud storage, an email attachment, and so on) is up to you.
Note that uninstalling the app deletes the data on that device. Please take a backup of any roster you want to keep.
This appears when the rules that must be kept absolutely — pairs to keep apart, pinned seats — cannot all hold at once. When it happens, the app shows you which pair or which pinned seat is in the way. Remove one of the rules it lists, or add more seats, and it will generate.
A chart cannot be generated when there are fewer seats than participants. Increase the rows and columns (or the number of tables and the seats per table) in the layout, or mark the people who are not coming as away. If you have seats left over instead, tap a seat to mark it empty.
Seating charts are drawn as the people sitting down see the room, so that a chart you post on the wall or hand out can be read as it is. The front of the room — the teacher’s desk or the host — is shown by a marker in the figure.
If you stand at the front and hold the paper in front of you, left and right look swapped; turn the paper 180° and they line up (the text is then upside down). The chart on screen uses the same orientation, so a chart on the projector and a chart on paper never disagree.
In PDF export, choose A3 (or Tabloid), or use 2-page or 4-page splitting, which spreads one seating chart over several sheets at a larger size.
A tag can be set to group together, spread apart, or neither — only one of the three. Both at once cannot be satisfied, so the app keeps them exclusive. If you need the two behaviors, split the tag in two.
